It’s been a while since I did a favorites roundup. So I decided it’s time. I’ve been enjoying some introspective music this year. I’ve been checking out some different dance music and have 2 favorites: “Faded” by Alan Walker and “Reality” by Lost Frequencies featuring Janieck Devy. They’re both chill, but energizing somehow. Sometimes I just hit repeat and listen to them over and over.
Another favorite form Top 40 is James Bay’s “Let it Go.” Another one I can repeat over and over. Though, interestingly, initially I didn’t care for it much. It kind of grew on me. And now I love it. I’ve recently gotten into the tv show Supergirl, and I heard it on one of the episodes. It was a nice choice for the scene, and I was happy hearing a song I like on a show I like. Weird, yes, but it’s the simple things sometimes, lol.
More from Top 40…”This is what you came for” by Calvin Harris featuring Rihanna. It has a lot of subtleties to the track (despite the repetitive lyrics) that I enjoy. Subtlety seems to be a trademark for Calvin Harris, which is unusual for dance music. Sometimes there are things in his tracks I can’t pick out till I listen on my studio monitors, which are built for clarity.
Then, of course, there’s “Don’t Bring Me Down” by the Chainsmokers featuring Daya and Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” – I love both of those. They are both unique in their own way. Both fun!
That’s my roundup for the moment. What are your favorites right now?
